Phoebe Astin who plays at TCC has taken the opportunity to play overseas in Australia for the 2023/24 winter by joining Edinburgh Cricket Club in Melbourne.
The club boasts lots of juniors teams, 7 senior sides 3 junior girl sides and a women’s team. Since arriving in November, Phoebe has played for a variety of sides and put some sensational performances in for this great club- scoring her maiden fifty (52* off 24) and then improved on this by scoring a century (102* off 80). Phoebe’s contributions have not only been with the bat though, impressive performances of 3-23 and 2-19 with the ball have helped her side reach the semi-finals in the stage 3 girls and hopefully the senior women’s team will be reaching the semi-finals too! All of us at TCC would like to wish Phoebe and Edinburgh CC the best in these upcoming games.
Off the cricketing field, Phoebe has thoroughly enjoyed her time in Australia and can only compliment Edinburgh CC for its fantastic facilities, that are located in picturesque public gardens, and the really warm welcome that Phoebe has received from everyone at the club. Phoebe has got involved in lots of the events that are hosted regularly at Edinburgh, the club has a pink stumps day, sausage sizzles and parties on the weekends.
